Jayme L. Quick graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2010, with a B.S. in journalism and a minor in sociology.
Jayme then taught journalism at Carthage High School in Carthage, Texas for seven years. While there, she was the publications adviser for the student-run Carthaginian newspaper and Pine Burr yearbook, the latter of which earned two Bronze Star awards from the Interscholastic Press League Conference. She also sponsored the Carthage HS UIL academic journalism team, which earned five district championships and two regional championships. In 2014, her UIL journalism team earned the title of 3A State UIL Championship team.
In 2017, Jayme extended her love for journalism and teaching out of her own classroom, and became a yearbook representative for Balfour. As a yearbook rep, she visits schools across East Texas and North Louisiana, helping them create memorable publications that serve their readers.
Jayme is currently enrolled in the master’s degree program for journalism education at Kent State University (Kent, OH) and plans to graduate in the summer of 2018.
In addition to her love of journalism, Jayme enjoys spending time with her husband and her two young sons, and their many pets. She also likes reading, traveling and researching her family tree.
